Software Development Engineer II - C++

About the role

Esri's R&D Center in Vienna develops indoor positioning systems for ArcGIS IPS, combining Bluetooth Low Energy beacon and Wi-Fi signal data with motion sensor data from mobile devices. As a C++ Software Development Engineer II, you will help improve the positioning engine and drive new initiatives that extend the functionality of ArcGIS Maps SDK, working with a multidisciplinary team on solutions that bridge indoor and outdoor contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Build C++ software components following industry-standard design patterns and development methodologies, optimized to run on smartphones
• Work as part of an agile product development team
• Collaborate with the research team to develop indoor positioning algorithms and evaluate their impact and usefulness
• Write and maintain unit tests for the C++ core libraries of the SDK, using test-driven development where appropriate
• Communicate component requirements and dependencies within the team

Required profile

• 2+ years of commercial C++ software development experience (or equivalent scale and complexity)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or a related field
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to work closely with the team in a constantly evolving environment

Required skills

• Modern C++ (11/14/17/20) and STL, Boost, Clang, MSVC
• Understanding of scientific algorithm specifications
• Preferred: Master's degree in computer science, Python experience, interest in graphics and visualization tools, and C++ for Android or iOS
