Intern Java Engineer

About the role

Join Bitpanda’s Payments team as an Intern Java Engineer and support the delivery of the payments roadmap. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop Java microservices in a critical domain, gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build production‑grade software by writing clean, testable Java code for core backend services and microservices.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers and QA to refine requirements and deliver reliable features.
• Learn modern design patterns, microservice architectures and automated testing methodologies.
• Contribute to high‑impact payments projects that directly affect end users.

Required profile

• Early‑stage engineer with foundational knowledge in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Java enthusiast who has built personal projects or completed coursework in Java.
• Understanding of microservice concepts, relational databases and message queues.
• Advocate for clean, maintainable, well‑tested code through unit and integration testing.
• Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn from senior engineers.
