Software Test Automation Engineer

About the role

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a global medical technology company, is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Software Test Engineer in Vienna. You will ensure the quality and reliability of its software products through a combination of manual and automated testing, working closely with developers, product owners and other team members in cross-functional, international Scrum teams.

Key responsibilities

• Validate implemented features and verify bug fixes against product specifications
• Perform exploratory, ad-hoc testing to uncover unexpected issues
• Write, maintain and enhance automated test cases in Cypress for regression and functional testing
• Execute manual test cases once per Program Increment
• Document defects with clear reproduction steps and collaborate with developers on resolution
• Contribute to improving testing processes, tools and frameworks
• Collaborate daily with developers, product owners and requirement engineers in and around Vienna, and take part in sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of professional experience as a Test Engineer, Software Quality Engineer or similar role
• Fluent English
• Analytical mindset and attention to detail

Required skills

• Familiarity with test automation tools such as Cypress and Playwright
• Scripting languages such as TypeScript and Python
• Nice to have: healthcare or medical device software experience, familiarity with regulatory standards, CI/CD pipelines and performance testing
