Senior Programme and Policy Officer

About the role

The Senior Programme and Policy Officer supports the Director of the Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA) at UNODC in Vienna. The role provides senior‑level management advice, coordinates programme implementation across multiple thematic areas, and ensures alignment with UNODC’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide policy advice and strategic guidance to the Director on the development and implementation of division strategies and inter‑departmental policies.
• Lead regular consultations and coordination meetings with UNODC divisions and field offices to identify joint programming opportunities, SDG alignment, and compliance with UN human‑rights reforms.
• Represent the Division in inter‑divisional meetings, missions, and task‑force activities, preparing summaries and follow‑up action plans.
• Organise and participate in programme coordination missions to field offices, offering strategic guidance and drafting mission reports.
• Support the preparation and submission of funding proposals in collaboration with the Co‑financing and Partnership Office.
• Back‑stop consultative meetings, conferences and other events, including agenda setting, participant identification, and document preparation.
