Brazil Space Economy Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Office at Vienna seeks a Brazil Space Economy Consultant to provide technical, strategic, and operational support for the implementation of Brazil's Space Ecosystem Roadmap. The consultant will work remotely, with occasional travel, and will contribute to ecosystem development, stakeholder engagement, and evidence‑based policy implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Document the results of the Space Industry Workshop 2026, preparing a consolidated report covering participation, conclusions, business opportunities, lessons learned and recommended follow‑up actions for AEB.
• Advise on the implementation of the Brazilian Space Ecosystem Roadmap, identifying priority actions, practical pathways, and international collaboration opportunities.
• Conduct research on space commercialization and internationalization, and design capacity‑building activities to strengthen Brazilian ecosystem actors for market access and partnership development.
• Prepare a structuring and implementation plan for an ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) in Brazil, defining governance, host institutions, services, infrastructure, financing options and implementation steps.
• Maintain documentation and knowledge management throughout the assignment, ensuring all relevant information is stored in a shared online folder for future reference by UNOOSA.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in economics, business administration, political science, international relations, engineering or a related field; a first‑level degree plus two years of relevant experience may be accepted.
• At least ten years of experience implementing projects, consulting or researching the space economy in Brazil, including work on strategic space ecosystem development.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Portuguese is required, and French or another UN official language is an advantage.
