Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d)

About the role

Formunauts, a fast-growing SaaS company founded in 2014, supports more than 100 charities in Europe and Latin America with software that makes fundraising campaigns more efficient. It also runs a face-to-face fundraising marketplace since 2020. It is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer in Vienna who takes ownership, thinks beyond individual tickets and helps shape a growing platform, taking part in technical decisions and architectural evolution.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the further development of backend systems and services
• Take part in architectural decisions and backlog prioritization
• Refactor and improve existing codebases, reducing technical debt
• Build and enhance APIs to make the platform more accessible and scalable
• Automate internal processes to support business teams and customers
• Share ownership of DevOps topics, including deployment, monitoring and reliability
• Orchestrate Docker containers for stable deployments on AWS
• Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines (e.g. Drone.io, Cypress)
• Create and maintain clean, sustainable documentation

Required profile

• Strong experience with backend development in a production environment
• Pragmatic, quality-driven engineering mindset with a sense of ownership
• Ability to balance code quality, delivery speed and system reliability
• Enjoys working in a collaborative team that shares responsibility and impact

Required skills

• Python (must-have)
• In-depth understanding of Django and Django REST framework or similar
• DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization and cloud environments
• Docker and AWS; OpenSearch and monitoring tools are a plus

The salary depends on qualifications and experience and is between 3,900 and 5,000 EUR gross per month on a 38.5-hour basis, paid 14 times per year.
