Operational Excellence (OpEx) Expert (Temporary)

About the role

Novartis is looking for an Operational Excellence (OpEx) Expert for a temporary position at its DSK manufacturing site in Kundl, Austria. You will shape the future of operations at the site, driving productivity, quality and competitiveness so that life-changing medicines can be delivered faster and more efficiently. The role is hybrid and is open to women, men and non-binary people. Relocation support is not offered.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and drive site transformation strategies aligned with technical operations objectives.
• Lead high-impact operational excellence initiatives to close performance gaps and improve efficiency.
• Deliver Lean and Six Sigma projects with clear milestones and measurable, sustainable results.
• Partner with Production, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain to embed lasting improvements.
• Introduce and scale digital tools and data-driven solutions to optimise decision-making.
• Communicate progress, impact and success stories to stakeholders and ensure transparency through project dashboards and strong governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Operations Management or a similar field.
• Three to five years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or a regulated industry.
• Proven success in leading continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives.
• Fluency in German and English, spoken and written.
• Desirable: advanced education or certification in business administration or Lean and Six Sigma, and experience using digital tools and data analytics.

Required skills

• Strong expertise in Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent project management and organisational capabilities.

• Expected annual base salary range in Austria of EUR 59,782 to 89,300, depending on skills, competencies and experience.
