Network Engineer (L2/L3, Physical & Logical Support)

About the role

D-ploy, an IT and engineering solutions provider with projects worldwide, is looking for a dedicated, flexible and solution-oriented Network Engineer to work on site in Kundl. The engineer is responsible for the end-to-end physical deployment and logical validation of network infrastructure, diagnosing issues across Layers 1, 2 and 3 of the OSI model so that physical connectivity matches logical configurations.

Key responsibilities

• Rack mounting: interpret Rack Elevation Diagrams to mount high-density chassis (Cisco Nexus 9k, Catalyst 9500) and 1U/2U appliances, manage weight distribution and power sequencing, and run pull tests.
• Fiber and cabling: handle single-mode and multi-mode fiber, clean connectors and inspect end-faces, install SFP, SFP+, QSFP+ and QSFP28 modules, and patch according to ANSI/TIA-606-B standards with labeling at both ends.
• Cross-connects and patch panels: coordinate with telcos to extend circuits from the meet-me-room, terminate copper and fiber panels, and deploy media converters.
• Remote management: configure terminal servers for out-of-band console access and troubleshoot serial connectivity (baud rates, roll-over cables).
• L2/L3 support: configure VLANs, STP, port mirroring and packet captures, assist in bringing up L3 interfaces (SVIs, routed ports), verify BGP and OSPF adjacencies, and provision LAGs (EtherChannel/LACP).

Required profile

• 6-8 years of experience in a data center or large enterprise campus environment.
• Fluency in English and German (C1).
• Ability to provide a criminal record certificate (not older than 3 months).
• Preferred: experience with mission-critical network incidents in large campuses and data centers, and CCNP Enterprise (ENCORE).

Required skills

• Cisco IOS, NX-OS, PAN OS or Arista EOS, with show commands and basic interface configuration.
• Installation of Ethernet and fiber cabling on Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto and F5 devices.
• Proficiency with VFLs, light meters and fiber inspection scopes.
