Legal Affairs Intern

About the role

The Legal Affairs Intern will join the Legal Team of the Office of the Director‑General at UNOV/UNODC headquarters in Vienna. This six‑month, full‑time, unpaid internship offers graduate or final‑year law students the chance to gain practical experience in international public law and United Nations legal frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Review and support the drafting of legal documents such as cooperation agreements, technical project agreements, correspondences and memoranda.
• Assist in compiling a register of issues related to UN privileges and immunities and help review host‑country agreements.
• Conduct legal research on topics related to international law, the law of international organisations and specialised areas using various research resources.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate law programme, or in the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree in law.
• Demonstrated interest in the United Nations and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with standard software applications.
