Intern – Space Law and Sustainability

About the role

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna is offering a six‑month unpaid internship in its Space Sustainability Unit. The position can be carried out remotely or on‑site and is intended for students or recent graduates with a strong interest in space law, policy and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in capacity‑building activities on space sustainability, law and policy.
• Conduct legal and policy research and analysis.
• Prepare and deliver a final presentation on internship outcomes.
• Perform other tasks as required by the supervising staff member.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in international affairs, policy, law or a related field.
• Computer literate with proficiency in standard software applications and spreadsheet preparation.
• Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Fluency in spoken and written English (French is an advantage).
• Proficiency with spreadsheet software.
