Human Rights Intern – Europe & Central Asia Hub

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Europe and Central‑Asia Regional Hub. The internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights while gaining practical experience in an international organization.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and analyse basic information, documents and reports related to OHCHR mandates and programmes.
• Assist Human Rights Officers in maintaining contacts with UN Country Teams, NGOs, NHRIs and other stakeholders.
• Support coordination of missions for special rapporteurs, experts and working groups in the region.
• Contribute to activities linked to the Universal Periodic Review and follow‑up processes.
• Help prepare background material for technical papers, speeches and briefing notes.
• Participate in organising meetings, seminars and official missions.
• Undertake any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s programme.
• Academic background in international relations, human rights law, political science or related fields is desirable.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is an advantage.
