Site Robotics Lead

About the role

The Site Robotics Lead will drive the robotics transformation of Novartis' drug substance manufacturing site in Austria, overseeing the development, implementation and lifecycle management of robotics solutions across production, laboratories, warehousing and material handling.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a site robotics strategy and roadmap, identifying high‑value automation opportunities.
• Lead end‑to‑end robotics programs from business case creation through deployment and value realization.
• Own the full lifecycle of robotics solutions, ensuring sustainable operation, maintenance, optimisation and upgrade planning.
• Evaluate, select and deploy technologies such as AMRs, AGVs, material‑handling robots, service robots, AI‑enabled robotics and Physical AI solutions.
• Establish robotics governance, standards and performance monitoring to ensure safety, reliability and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, validation, qualification, cybersecurity and inspection requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline.
• 10‑15 years of experience with at least 5 years of hands‑on implementation of industrial robotics solutions.
• Proven track record leading robotics or automation programmes from concept to operational support.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑management skills, fluent in German and English.
• Experience in GMP/pharmaceutical environments and AI‑enabled robotics is preferred.
