Senior/Lead ML Applied Scientist

About the role

Intuition Machines builds enterprise security products using AI/ML, serving hundreds of millions of people through products such as the hCaptcha security suite. As an ML Applied Scientist, you will design, implement and scale machine learning systems that power the products, translating business goals into technical specifications. The role combines research, engineering and mentorship in a fast-paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build ML models that scale to millions of requests per second while maintaining performance
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Develop models that fit memory and compute constraints, evaluate them properly and debug effectively
• Mentor other ML research engineers
• Iterate quickly, focusing on shipping early and often so new products can reach millions of users
• Write clear, maintainable, documented and tested code, including unit, integration and end-to-end tests
• Take part in code reviews and architecture and design sessions, and stay up to date on technology trends
• Provide technical input to the research roadmap

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in applied ML
• Proven experience with the full modeling lifecycle: building, evaluating and debugging large ML models
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Self-directed individual comfortable making technical decisions independently

Required skills

• Large-scale categorical and structured data
• Real-time ML models, incremental learning and online learning
• Understanding of ML fundamentals: bias-variance tradeoffs, loss functions, evaluation metrics
• Nice to have: strong grasp of the math behind ML (linear algebra, probability, statistics, matrix calculus)
• Nice to have: software engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems and collaboration with ML engineers on observability, deployment, quality and security
