Programme Officer – GRIDS & OPIOIDS Project

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is seeking a Programme Officer to lead the Global Rapid Interdiction of Dangerous Substances (GRIDS) Programme and the Operational Partnerships to Interdict Opioids' Illicit Distribution and Sales (OPIOIDS) Project. The position is based in Vienna and reports directly to the Secretary of the International Narcotics Control Board.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage activities under the GRIDS Programme and OPIOIDS Project in line with Board decisions.
• Monitor project progress, analyse reports, identify issues and initiate corrective actions.
• Design and promote new approaches to reduce the manufacture, trafficking and consumer access to synthetic drugs, new psychoactive substances and opioids.
• Oversee operationalisation of INCB reporting technologies such as ION Incident Communication System (IONICS), GRIDS Intelligence and Scanning Novel Opioids Online Platforms (SNOOP).
• Facilitate task‑force meetings, public‑private partnerships and consultative sessions with national, regional, international and private‑sector stakeholders.
• Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources to support policy development.
