National Technical Project Coordinator – North Macedonia

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme is seeking a consultant to serve as the National Technical Project Coordinator for a natural resource management project in North Macedonia. The role involves coordinating day‑to‑day project activities, supporting capacity development, and ensuring the delivery of project outputs under the supervision of the Associate Programme Management Officer and the UNEP WB Projects Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement project activities related to natural resource management, reforestation/afforestation, and sustainable land management.
• Manage registration and due‑diligence processes for project partners.
• Develop terms of reference, draft agreements, and monitor partner performance.
• Oversee production of project outputs and provide technical inputs on deliverables.
• Liaise with the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, municipalities, and expert teams to select pilot sites.
• Participate in field work and contribute to knowledge‑management products.
• Ensure timely technical, progress, and financial reporting from partners, sub‑contractors, and consultants.
• Prepare materials and organize GEF Project Steering Committee meetings, including minutes and follow‑up documentation.
• Prepare monthly progress reports, GEF reports, and support monitoring and evaluation activities.
• Contribute to the development of new project proposals and other managerial tasks as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in coordinating environmental or natural‑resource projects.
• Familiarity with stakeholder engagement, including government agencies, municipalities, and NGOs.
• Ability to prepare technical reports, project documentation, and monitoring data.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple partners and deliverables.
