Consultant - Space Sustainability Implementation and Stakeholder Coordination

About the role

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) seeks an experienced consultant to support the implementation of its Space Sustainability agenda. Working under the Director of UNOOSA, the consultant will drive onboarding, operational launch, and platform enhancement of the United Nations Space Operators Coordination Hub (UN‑SOCH).

Key responsibilities

• Support onboarding of operators to UN‑SOCH, including content quality control, user guidance, and administrative follow‑up.
• Engage with operators and partners to collect feedback, prepare summaries, and recommend iterative improvements.
• Manage day‑to‑day administration of UN‑SOCH such as access requests, user accounts, and record keeping.
• Assist with launch‑support activities, preparing briefing materials and outreach content for initial operators.
• Identify functional enhancements for the platform, draft user guidance, and contribute to Phase II expansion for Member State participation.
• Contribute to internal progress reporting and coordinate cross‑cutting tasks as required by the Director.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in space engineering, astrodynamics, international relations, space law, space policy or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in space sustainability, stakeholder coordination, or international cooperation.
• Proven experience organising policy meetings, workshops or expert consultations with multiple stakeholder groups.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills for concise briefing materials and stakeholder‑facing documents.
• Experience working with international organisations or the United Nations system is desirable.
