International Consultant (Quantitative Research and Visualization)

About the role
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking an International Consultant to support its Generating the Knowledge Base on Migrant Smuggling (GEMS) Initiative. Working remotely under the supervision of the Research Officer and GEMS Coordinator, the consultant will contribute to quantitative research, data visualization, and event organization.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct desk‑based literature reviews and collect relevant information from online sources.
- Assist in developing research methodologies, including designing key‑informant interview questionnaires.
- Draft, edit, and review research documents in multiple UN official languages.
- Support logistical arrangements for GEMS events, such as participant list compilation, venue booking, and preparation of concept notes and agendas.
- Provide analytical support for the synthesis of data on migrant smuggling routes and trends.
Required profile
- Relevant academic background in social sciences, international relations, migration studies, or a related field.
- Experience in quantitative research, data analysis, and visualization.
- Familiarity with UN documentation processes and multilingual drafting.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and meet tight deadlines.
