Geospatial Information Management Internship

About the role

The Geospatial Information Management Internship supports UNODC’s research on drugs and crime by handling geospatial data and creating visualisations for reports and publications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, managing, analysing and quality‑controlling geospatial data related to drug and crime research.
• Produce static and dynamic (web‑based) maps and story maps, applying innovative design techniques.
• Integrate geospatial information into ongoing research activities of the Research and Analysis Branch.
• Help develop guidelines and protocols for map production and geospatial processing workflows.
• Liaise with universities, research centres and UN networks to support geospatial research collaborations.
• Stay updated on emerging GIS and cartography technologies.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Computer literate in standard software applications.
• Strong interest in the United Nations and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
