Customer Engineer Manager

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is seeking a Manager Customer Engineer for its Villach district. You will lead a team of customer engineers, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure successful system installations and support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district, conducting regular visits.
• Manage, coach, and direct customer engineers, handling salary and career planning, performance appraisals, and corrective actions.
• Serve as the primary interface with product divisions for technical support, training, spares, and reliability.
• Oversee account planning with the District Sales Engineer and provide support plans for system sales.
• Responsible for financial forecasting, cost efficiency, and achieving district financial results.
• Plan and execute system installations, including pre‑facility and start‑up meetings, and manage RMA procedures.

Required profile

• Demonstrated understanding of Applied Materials procedures and concepts, with basic knowledge of related job families.
• Formal supervisory experience, able to set priorities and coach employees to meet deadlines.
• Strong judgment for solving day‑to‑day technical and operational problems.
• Ability to impact team quality, efficiency, and contribution to business objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive issues.
