About the role
As a Customer Engineer III at Applied Materials you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to resolve technical issues.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
- Apply basic diagnostic techniques with assistance from senior engineers.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows and business challenges.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and plating systems.
- Coordinate with factory personnel and internal technical resources to complete customer‑required activities.
- Participate in escalation meetings, track issues and provide status updates.
- Represent the company professionally to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Train, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior field service engineers.
Required profile
- Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 4–7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
- Experience with vacuum‑based, wet‑chemistry (plating) or dry‑chemistry (PVD) equipment.
- Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeter usage.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
- Ability to work in a clean‑room environment and meet safety, environmental and COVID‑19 protocols.
