Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Intern

About the role

The Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Section of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is seeking motivated interns to support its work on crime prevention, justice reform and related UN standards. This full‑time, unpaid internship runs for four to six months and combines on‑site work in Vienna with hybrid flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on political and legal aspects of crime prevention and criminal‑justice reform.
• Assist in drafting UNODC publications, background notes, reports, briefing materials and presentations.
• Prepare correspondences, talking points and speeches for Member State engagements.
• Support the organization of technical assistance missions, workshops, high‑level events and conferences.
• Attend meetings, take detailed notes and perform other ad‑hoc tasks as required.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to the UN Charter.
• Strong analytical and research abilities.

Required skills

• Computer literacy in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
