Staff Backend Engineer – Greenfield Trust Accounting (Remote)

About the role

Hostaway is seeking a delivery‑focused Staff Backend Engineer to lead the creation of a brand‑new Trust Accounting subsystem. This greenfield project will provide property managers with a secure, accurate and compliant financial platform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and own the technical vision for the V1 Trust Accounting product.
• Design and implement production‑grade backend services for a scalable, auditable financial subsystem.
• Establish quality gates, robust testing and CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliability.
• Promote best practices in system design, observability and security across the organization.
• Collaborate with product, design, finance and legal teams to deliver a seamless solution.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance and pair programming.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years operating at a Staff Engineer or equivalent senior level.
• Strong backend expertise with experience building, shipping and operating critical services.
