Security Risk Management Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office at Vienna is seeking a motivated intern to support its Security and Safety Service. The role focuses on security risk management, providing analytical support, administrative assistance, and content creation for internal communications.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily security‑related information from open sources and prepare concise summaries.
• Research security topics and contribute to analytical assessments, reports, and briefing notes.
• Assist the Pass and ID Unit with badge photo processing and related administrative tasks.
• Draft, edit, format, and review various documents, including reports, background papers, and presentation data.
• Support the quarterly newsletter production using SharePoint, Canva, or similar tools.
• Help the Office of the Chief with project planning, coordination, and follow‑up activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. programme, or a graduate‑level programme.
• Field of study closely related to security, risk management, international relations or a similar area.
• Ability to work full‑time (40 hours/week) for a six‑month period, starting July 2026.
• Unpaid internship; no prior professional experience required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
• Experience using Microsoft SharePoint.
• Familiarity with Canva or comparable design platforms.
