About the role
The Quality Control Specialist II supports the implementation, validation and lifecycle management of virological, molecular biological and cell‑based analytical methods at Novartis in Schaftenau, Austria. The role translates scientific concepts into robust, QC‑compliant laboratory procedures for routine release testing of cell banks and process intermediates.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and execute development, optimisation and validation/transfer of cell‑based and molecular analytical methods, focusing on in‑vitro virus assays, real‑time PCR and next‑generation sequencing.
- Prepare, review and maintain analytical procedures, protocols, risk assessments and other GxP documentation in English.
- Assess method performance, investigate technical issues, define corrective and preventive actions, and support deviations, CAPAs and change controls.
- Coordinate laboratory activities across QC analysts and external partners, ensuring efficient use of equipment and resources.
Required profile
- University degree in virology, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry or related life‑science discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture, virus‑based analytical methods and safe handling of biological materials.
- Strong organisational skills, proactive communication and ability to work collaboratively across functions and sites.
- Fluent English; German skills or willingness to develop them.
