Public Information Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in Vienna is seeking a motivated Public Information Intern to join its Publications, Outreach and Common Services team. This six‑month, full‑time, unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in multimedia production, digital communication, and event support within a multilateral environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and produce digital and printed communication materials such as presentations, infographics, brochures, posters, banners and flyers using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva and Trello.
• Edit and create video, podcast and audio content; develop simple data visualisations for internal and external use.
• Support UX/UI optimisation of the office’s website and digital products, and update localisation and quality‑assurance of e‑learning materials.
• Assist in planning and executing public outreach campaigns, social‑media content, and digital storytelling.
• Manage social‑media accounts, monitor engagement metrics and propose audience‑growth ideas.
• Provide logistical and substantive support for in‑person, hybrid and online events, including photography, filming and promotional material preparation.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or a graduate programme (official university proof required).
• Proficient with standard computer applications and a strong interest in United Nations work and its charter.
