Protocol Office Internship

About the role

The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are seeking a motivated intern for the Protocol Office. The six‑month, unpaid internship will support protocol and liaison activities, working closely with the Director‑General of UNOV and the Executive Director of UNODC.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in liaising with the Host Country and Permanent Missions on accreditation and protocol matters.
• Maintain and update protocol databases and related documentation.
• Draft, review, and edit office documents and correspondence.
• Support the organization of special events, high‑level visits, and meetings at UNOV/UNODC.
• Perform ad‑hoc assignments as required by the department.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme (second university degree) or the final year of a bachelor’s programme.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to the UN Charter.
• Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• No prior professional experience required.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with standard office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
