About the role
Novartis is seeking a Process Engineer to support manufacturing operations and engineering projects in a dynamic drug product environment in Schaftenau, Austria. The role focuses on equipment lifecycle activities, technical improvements, and delivering reliable, compliant, cost‑effective solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Execute engineering activities including design, implementation, qualification, maintenance and continuous improvement for assigned technical areas.
- Develop and implement reliable, cost‑effective technical solutions while ensuring quality, compliance and operational excellence.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing equipment, utilities and facility systems.
- Lead or contribute to improvement projects targeting productivity, energy efficiency, environmental compliance and maintenance optimisation.
- Prepare equipment specifications, system requirements and project documentation such as User Requirement Specifications (URS).
- Develop project cost estimates and support Value Improvement Reviews.
- Obtain and coordinate permits for maintenance, calibration and project activities.
- Support installation, commissioning and lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment and systems.
Required profile
- Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline with experience in process engineering within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic/sterile manufacturing processes; exposure to compounding, assembly, packaging or mechanical engineering is an advantage.
- Proven ability to identify and implement reliable, cost‑effective technical solutions while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance and operational excellence.
- Fluent English required; German highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
