Mechatronics Engineer

About the role

Snap Inc. is looking for its first on‑site hardware engineer to own the calibration lab’s fixtures, targets, lighting, and camera rigs. You will act as the bridge between local software/computer‑vision teams and remote mechanical and electrical groups.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain lab fixtures, jigs, and simple mechanisms using CAD, 3D printing, and machine‑shop tools.
• Prototype circuits, integrate sensors, lighting, and triggers, and bring up new calibration stations.
• Characterise station repeatability, troubleshoot drift, and resolve hardware issues locally.
• Read and modify Python scripts that control lab hardware and document setups, procedures, and vendor interactions.

Required profile

• BS/BA in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of industry experience building and maintaining lab or test hardware.
• Proven ability to produce CAD models and manufacturing drawings independently.
• Hands‑on experience with prototype circuits, wiring, and debugging power/signal chains.

Required skills

• CAD (mechanical design, GD&T, tolerancing).
• 3D printing and basic machine‑shop fabrication.
• Python scripting (production‑grade not required).
• Electronic prototyping: circuits, sensors, DAQ, multimeter, oscilloscope.
• Integration of mechanical, electrical, camera, and robotic arm systems.
