Mechatronics Engineer – Calibration Lab

About the role

Snap Inc. is building augmented‑reality glasses and needs a hands‑on Mechatronics Engineer to own the calibration lab’s hardware. You will design, build, and maintain fixtures, targets, lighting, and camera rigs that enable reliable computer‑vision pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Own the calibration lab hardware, including fixtures, targets, lighting, and camera rigs.
• Design and fabricate fixtures, jigs, and simple mechanisms using CAD, 3D printing, and machine‑shop tools.
• Build prototype circuits, integrate sensors, lighting, and triggers, and assemble off‑the‑shelf components into stable calibration stations.
• Characterize station repeatability, troubleshoot drift, and root‑cause hardware issues, escalating to remote ME/EE teams when needed.
• Read and modify Python scripts that control lab equipment and document setups, procedures, and vendor parts.

Required profile

• BS/BA in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of industry experience building and maintaining lab or test hardware.
• Proven ability to produce CAD models and manufacturing drawings independently.
• Hands‑on experience with prototype circuits, wiring, and troubleshooting power and signal issues.

Required skills

• CAD design and GD&T knowledge.
• 3D printing and basic machine‑shop fabrication.
• Python scripting (production‑grade code not required).
• Electrical prototyping: circuits, sensors, DAQ, multimeter, oscilloscope.
