Manager Customer Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager Customer Engineer to lead a district of customer engineers in Villach, Austria. You will be the primary interface between customers and product divisions, driving relationship management, technical support, and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district, including regular visits.
• Manage, coach, and evaluate customer engineers, handling salary and career planning, performance appraisals, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with District Sales Engineer on account planning, system installation, and financial forecasting.
• Oversee escalation procedures, RMA processes, and the CSD Award and mentor programs.
• Ensure accurate tracking of engineer hours and cost‑efficiency metrics.

Required profile

• Formal supervisory experience with the ability to set priorities and coach teams to meet deadlines.
• Strong judgment for solving day‑to‑day technical and operational problems.
• Ability to influence quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the team and its contribution to the business.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive issues.

Required skills

• Understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct and ethical standards.
• Knowledge of customer‑engineer processes, escalation handling, and financial forecasting.
• Leadership, problem‑solving and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
