Junior Software Engineer – Debugger for Secure Embedded Systems

About the role

Join NXP’s secure embedded systems team in Gratkorn as a Junior Software Engineer focused on debugging tools for RISC‑V microcontrollers. You will work alongside senior engineers to develop, test, and maintain debuggers that support NXP’s design teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate on the full life‑cycle of debuggers: specification, development, testing, verification, documentation, and maintenance.
• Build expertise in trace and code‑coverage for secure embedded microcontrollers.
• Interact with internal hardware and software teams to analyse and resolve customer‑reported issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development, quality, and testing methodologies.

Required profile

• University degree in electronics, applied mathematics, computer science or a related field.
• Understanding of embedded software development tools such as GDB or OpenOCD.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++ and Python.
• Team player with good communication across technical domains and cultures.

Required skills

• Microcontroller architecture knowledge.
• Assembly programming.
• RISC‑V architecture.
• JTAG interfacing and FPGA debug targets.
• Trace and code‑coverage techniques.
• Rust programming (beneficial).
