Investigator – Internal Oversight Services

About the role

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) seeks an experienced Investigator to lead and manage investigations of alleged misconduct, fraud, corruption and other violations within the United Nations system. The role is based in Vienna and requires occasional travel to remote locations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and conduct investigations into misconduct, fraud, waste of resources, sexual exploitation and abuse, and other violations of UN regulations.
• Lead and supervise investigation teams, define investigation parameters and timetables, and select appropriate investigative tools.
• Gather and analyse evidence, conduct interviews, prepare testimony, and draft comprehensive investigation reports.
• Collaborate with other investigators and staff, ensure compliance with OIOS procedures and UN regulations, and provide data‑driven insights through visualisation.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in law or a related field (or equivalent combination of degree and experience).
• Minimum seven years of progressive investigative experience, including supervisory responsibilities and international work.
• Proven experience in interviewing witnesses, evidence collection and data analytics.
• Fluency in English (required) and proficiency in French or Arabic (desirable).
