Individual Contractor – Laboratory Technician (Local)

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a local individual contractor to support its Laboratory and Scientific Service (LSS). The contractor will work on training preparation, kit assembly, and routine laboratory analyses to strengthen forensic capacities of Member States.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare training materials and samples, providing logistical support for training events.
• Conduct laboratory analyses using appropriate techniques, record results, and ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures.
• Prepare solutions and test reagents, assemble and quality‑check UNODC drug and precursor field identification kits.
• Accurately prepare ICE test samples and reference materials, assemble, pack and dispatch ICE rounds within deadlines.
• Support general laboratory operations, including inventory management, database updates, and procurement assistance.

Required profile

• Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with forensic or drug analysis focus.
• Ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures and quality assurance guidelines.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Capacity to work under the supervision of the Scientific Affairs Officer and collaborate with international partners.
