Communications Intern – UN Voluntary Trust Fund

About the role
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is seeking a Communications Intern for the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons (UNVTF). The six‑month, unpaid position is based in Vienna and offers hands‑on experience in advocacy, digital media, and programme support.
Key responsibilities
- Develop communication materials such as print products, articles, human‑interest stories and video scripts to showcase UNVTF impact.
- Collect content from grantees and civil‑society partners to produce impact stories and case examples.
- Manage digital communications, including drafting, scheduling and monitoring posts for X/Twitter, Facebook and the UNVTF website.
- Assist the full cycle of the UNVTF Call for Proposals – from drafting terms of reference to screening applications and shortlisting candidates.
- Track grantee progress, ensure timely submission of narrative and financial reports, and serve as a point of contact for queries.
- Coordinate administrative tasks such as travel arrangements, meeting scheduling, procurement support and documentation filing.
- Support event planning and logistics for workshops, stakeholder consultations and coordination meetings.
- Draft, edit and update project reports, briefing notes, donor reports and other communication outputs.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme (second university degree or equivalent).
- Strong written communication skills in English.
- Interest in human‑rights, anti‑trafficking work and international development.
Required skills
- Social media management (X/Twitter, Facebook).
- Content creation and editing.
- Basic website updating.
