AI Managing Consultant – German Fluency Required

About the role

Mastercard’s Advisors & Consulting Services is building an AI‑native consulting profile that blends top‑tier strategy with hands‑on generative AI expertise. As an AI Managing Consultant you will act as the client‑facing AI subject‑matter expert, translating business challenges into AI‑driven solutions for payments, banking and commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Lead AI delivery, design solution architectures (LLM selection, RAG vs fine‑tuning, agent orchestration, context engineering) and evaluate feasibility, ROI and Responsible‑AI guardrails.
• Advise C‑level stakeholders on AI strategy, operating‑model design, data and technology foundations, talent implications and governance.
• Structure projects, conduct analyses, synthesize findings and drive internal and client meetings.
• Champion rapid experimentation (notebooks, prompt engineering, agent demos) and embed Responsible AI principles in every engagement.

Required profile

• Quantitative degree (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) with strong business acumen.
• Minimum five years in strategy, management consulting, corporate strategy or business intelligence.
• Fluent in English and German, eligible to work in Austria and able to travel to client sites.
• Proven ability to translate between business stakeholders and technical teams (“AI translator”).

Required skills

• Python programming and data/ML ecosystem (pandas, SQL, notebooks).
• Experience with Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), large language models and agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph).
• Familiarity with cloud AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry, Databricks, AWS Bedrock or GCP Vertex.
• Understanding of MLOps concepts, CI/CD, Docker and observability tools.
