Senior Software Developer – Quantum Computing

About the role

As a Senior Software Developer at AQT you will lead the development of the company’s quantum computing software stack. You will create new features for trapped‑ion quantum computers, integrate established tools and work closely with operations, research and engineering stakeholders to bring software innovations into production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain control software for quantum computing systems and devices.
• Implement software features across the stack from embedded control to user‑facing APIs, including coding, debugging, documentation and automated testing.
• Use real‑time control frameworks on FPGA or SoC platforms to build tools for programming and executing quantum circuits.
• Collaborate with hardware, system and quantum engineers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components.
• Perform code reviews, support DevOps processes and contribute to continuous improvement of technical and team practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software development experience, ideally with embedded or systems‑level work.
• MSc (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics or a related technical field.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English and ability to work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team.
