Senior Rotor Aerodynamics Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Rotor Aerodynamics Engineer you will lead the aerodynamic design and optimisation of CycloRotor propulsion systems, supporting all development stages from concept to testing and validation. You will collaborate closely with aerodynamics, flight physics, mechanical, structural and testing engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise CycloRotor units, covering conceptual design through to testing and validation.
• Develop validation and correlation plans, primarily using CFD simulations and experimental measurements, including aeroelastic effects.
• Create and improve simulation methodologies.
• Define and assess aerodynamic performance targets for various rotor units.
• Work with structural and mechanical teams to optimise the structural‑aerodynamic interface, loads and aeroelastic deformations.
• Support the Flight Physics Department by establishing processes, interfaces and best practices for system performance, simulation, testing and validation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or a related field with a strong focus on fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.
• 10+ years of professional experience in aerodynamic design and development for propulsion systems, airframes or vehicles.
• Deep understanding of aerodynamic optimisation, simulation‑correlation‑validation workflow and integration with mechanical/structural requirements at the vehicle level.
• Hands‑on experience validating CFD results against experimental data.
