Senior Full-Stack Application Engineer

About the role

Red Bull is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Application Engineer with a data focus to build and operate reliable applications for its Pro Cycling team. Working within the team's central IT support function, you will translate the team's requirements into the Sports Data Platform (SDP) and bring performance insights, race-day tools and scientific models to riders, coaches and performance staff.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and improve applications such as performance dashboards, race-day tools and team time trial planning solutions.
• Integrate SDP data products (databases and APIs) into applications and give structured feedback on data quality, availability and functional gaps.
• Turn scientific models (power/VO2, TTT aerodynamics, mean-max power) into deployed tools, owning packaging, UI design, deployment and reliability.
• Deploy and operate applications using Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines and containerised delivery, with strong security practices protecting athlete and performance data.
• Collaborate with coaches, the data scientist and performance staff, and uphold code quality, reviews and documentation.

Required profile

• Higher education in IT or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in full-stack software engineering, data application engineering or a comparable role.
• Fluency in both German and English.
• Proven experience building production-grade full-stack applications focused on reliability, usability and maintainability.
• Early leadership experience, web scraping, third-party integrations, mapping tools (Leaflet) or BI and visualisation tools (Recharts, QuickSight) are a plus.

• Backend: Python, FastAPI, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, REST API design.
• Frontend: React, Vite, TanStack Query/Table, Tailwind CSS, Radix UI/shadcn, PWA fundamentals.
• Data: SQL, BigQuery, dbt-modelled datasets, APIs.
• Cloud and DevOps: GCP, Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, CI/CD.
• Testing: pytest, Vitest, Playwright.
