QA Mobile Automation Engineer - Freelancer

About the role

You will join Roche's Vienna office to help build high‑quality mobile health applications. Working with developers, designers and product owners, you will translate manual test suites into reliable automated tests and ensure safe, rapid releases.

Key responsibilities

• Convert existing manual test cases into automated end‑to‑end tests for iOS and Android using the current automation framework.
• Own and drive the strategy to increase automated test coverage and reduce manual regression effort.
• Prioritise test cases for automation value and keep the automated suite aligned with the evolving manual suite.
• Analyse test failures, distinguish flaky tests from real defects, reproduce bugs and provide detailed bug reports.
• Maintain and extend shared components of the automation framework to support new scenarios.
• Integrate and maintain automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for frequent reliable releases.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define acceptance criteria and improve testability.
• Advocate for shipping safe applications that meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• 6–9 years of software QA experience, with at least 3+ years in mobile automation.
• Strong communication skills and professional working proficiency in English.
