Public Information Outreach Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office at Vienna is seeking a motivated Public Information Intern to support the Outreach Unit of the United Nations Information Service. This six‑month, full‑time, unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in communications, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement within an international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare project outlines and assist with daily unit activities.
• Support the planning and execution of events, film screenings, exhibitions, and campaigns.
• Draft written materials, presentations, remarks, social‑media content, and multimedia products.
• Establish and maintain contacts with NGOs, IGOs, civil‑society groups, and academic institutions.
• Perform additional tasks as required by the supervising professional staff.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate or final‑year bachelor programme (official proof required).
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Fluency in oral and written English and German; knowledge of Hungarian, Slovak or Slovene is a plus.
