Head of Mental Performance

About the role

The Head of Mental Performance leads the development and delivery of mental performance services for elite athletes within Red Bull’s performance ecosystem. You will translate scientific insights into practical strategies that enhance resilience, self‑regulation, mental fitness, and performance under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop mental performance programmes across organisational, developmental and strategic dimensions.
• Assess athletes’ mental characteristics using multi‑dimensional, multi‑method approaches and convert findings into actionable interventions.
• Design and maintain athlete profiling frameworks to identify strengths, development needs and behavioural patterns.
• Explore and integrate emerging technologies, AI‑supported tools, neuroscience and sport‑science applications into mental performance practice.
• Coordinate mental performance support across athletes, teams and projects, ensuring alignment with existing support structures.
• Collaborate closely with coaching, performance and health departments to embed mental performance principles in training and competition.
• Establish and manage relationships with external partners in neuroscience, technology and research.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Sport Psychology or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience working with elite individual and team athletes.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Strong understanding of high‑performance sport demands and ability to translate theory into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication, organisational and analytical abilities.
