Customer Engineer (Field Service) – Graz

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (also known as Field Service Engineer) you will be the direct liaison between Applied Materials and its customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading cutting‑edge semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure optimal performance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Utilise digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to guarantee smooth operations.
• Fulfil additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to read electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• 1–2 years of field service or related technical experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics (preferred).
