Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Intern (Anti-Corruption)

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a motivated intern for its Corruption and Financial Crime Branch in Vienna. The position offers hands‑on experience in legal research, treaty implementation monitoring, and anti‑corruption initiatives within a leading international organization.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and related instruments.
• Gather and analyse information on member‑state implementation of anti‑corruption and AML/CFT measures.
• Support the preparation of briefing notes, reports, and policy briefs for intergovernmental bodies.
• Assist in risk‑based assessments of AML/CFT/CPF frameworks and contribute to asset‑recovery initiatives.
• Participate in the drafting of recommendations for technical assistance to developing countries.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a university program in law, international relations, criminology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in anti‑corruption, organized crime, and financial crime prevention.
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Legal research and citation.
• Familiarity with international legal instruments on corruption and AML/CFT.
• Basic understanding of financial‑crime risk assessment.
• Report drafting and data summarisation.
