Consultant – Expert Advisor on Lunar Governance and Intergenerational Dialogue

About the role

The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) seeks a Consultant to act as an Expert Advisor on Lunar Governance and Intergenerational Dialogue. The role is home‑based and supports the One Moon For All project, focusing on policy advice, conference organization, and dialogue implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert inputs, draft statements, analytical notes and other documentation to support lunar‑related mechanisms.
• Organize the 2026 UNOOSA Lunar Conference and deliver a comprehensive final report.
• Develop an implementation plan for UNOOSA’s Intergenerational Dialogue on Space and serve as co‑focal point for its execution.
• Advise the Office in its support to Member States within the Action Team on Lunar Activities Consultation (ATLAC).

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international space law, diplomacy, international relations or international law; a first‑level degree plus two years relevant experience may be accepted.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in space law, space diplomacy or related international relations.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of French or another UN official language is an advantage.
• Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multinational team.
