Senior Cyber Security Engineer – Elastic (Security Operations)

Millions of customers trust Bitpanda to protect their money, identities and digital assets. As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer you will lead the development of detection, incident response and automation capabilities that keep our platform secure and resilient.

Key responsibilities

• Own detection engineering in Elastic Security, creating high‑fidelity rules that map to real‑world attacker techniques.
• Lead incident response investigations and proactively hunt for advanced threats across AWS, Elastic and Datadog.
• Design and implement automated investigation, enrichment and response workflows using SOAR, APIs and custom tooling.
• Improve cloud security monitoring, system hardening and security tooling across our AWS environment and support compliance initiatives such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS and DORA.
• Mentor security engineers, influence architectural decisions and promote a security‑first culture throughout the organisation.
• Participate in a weekly rotating on‑call schedule to ensure continuous protection for millions of users.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on security engineering experience with a focus on incident response, threat hunting, SIEM and scripting.
• Proven track record of building and evolving security operations, including detection design and workflow automation.
• Strong expertise securing cloud‑native environments, especially AWS, with experience in system hardening, network security, IAM and security monitoring.
• Ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges and drive initiatives from concept to implementation.
• Excellent collaborator and communicator who enjoys mentoring and influencing technical direction.
